Music

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.  Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing. - Psalm 100:1-2 NRSV

First UMC has a tradition of excellence in music and is blessed to have many members who are talented, accomplished musicians. They share those talents every Sunday through the adult chancel choir and the Renew contemporary band, special instrumental and voice solos and ensembles, musicals and children’s choirs and handbells.

  • RENEW Band

A variety of musical instruments including the guitar, trumpet, sax and drums are used to lead worship in the 9:00am Renew contemporary service.  The group rehearses at 6:30pm on Thursdays.  Contact Travis Lowery if you are interested in joining.

  • Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir sings a variety of choral literature, ranging from classical to gospel and more. The choir rehearses in the sanctuary at 7:00pm on Wednesdays and leads worship in the 11:00am service on Sunday mornings. The Chancel Choir also leads special worship services for Christmas and Easter. Click here for a sample order of worship. Membership is open to any adult or youth. Childcare is available during rehearsal time. Contact Travis Lowery if you are interested in joining.

  • Rhapsody Ringers handbell choir

The Rhapsody Ringers help to lead in worship in addition to special performances at Christmas and Easter.  Anyone with an interest in learning to ring or those with ringing experience are welcome to participate.  This group is open to adults and youth and rehearses at 6:00pm on Wednesdays in the balcony of the sanctuary. Child care is available during rehearsal time.  Contact Travis Lowery if you are interested in joining.

    Handbell music is uploaded here.

  • Children's Choirs

Children's Choirs are divided into groups based on age.  All Children's Choir are part of our WOW (Worship on Wednesdays) program and meet at 4:15pm on Wednesdays.  These choirs sing in worship every 4 to 6 weeks.  Children are introduced to hand chimes and rhythm instruments as part of their choir experience at all age levels.  Contact Travis Lowery for more information.

  • Worship Music

The music ministry would like you to have a say in the worship music that we sing from week to week! Contact Travis Lowery to make a request. The catch is you may not see your song or hymn this Sunday or even the next Sunday, but effort will be made to find the appropriate place for it in worship. Requests will be considered and scheduled based on the needs of particular worship services. For example: we won't sing For All the Saints on Christmas Eve or Victory In Jesus on Good Friday. We want our church to have a strong identity in worship music and we encourage your input!
