Salary Range: $43,000-$48,000

General Description of Position Duties:
The Director of Music Ministries will be responsible for overseeing a comprehensive church music program. Primary duties include leading music at the 9:00 AM contemporary and 11:00 AM traditional Sunday worship services, and directing the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, and Worship Band. The Director of Music Ministries may either personally direct the Children’s Music and Youth Music or oversee and support volunteer directors for these groups. Additionally, the Director will supervise the Church Pianist, Choral Scholars, Sound Technician, and volunteers involved in the Worship Band, Children's Music, and Youth Music. The Director of Music Ministries will report directly to the Senior Pastor. All duties should be carried out professionally, maintaining harmonious, constructive, and productive relationships with fellow staff members, church members, church committees, and the Senior Pastor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct music programs and ensembles for all church services and special events
- Select hymns, anthems, and special music for worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor
- Coordinate and conduct rehearsals for music ensembles or coordinate music volunteers (current ensembles include: Chancel Choir, Adult Handbell Choir, Worship Band, Children’s Choir, Children’s Handchime Choir, Youth Choir)
- Provide musical support for weddings, funerals, and other church-related events
- Develop and manage the music ministry budget
- Oversee maintenance of the music library
- Oversee maintenance of the church’s musical instruments (organ, regularly used pianos, handbells, handchimes, drums, etc.)
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in music, music education, or a related field
- Experience directing and conducting choral and instrumental ensembles
- Proficient in working with children’s and youth music programming
- Knowledgeable in playing accompaniment instruments
- Experience with band balance, sound balance
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with staff, volunteers, and church members
- Knowledge of Christian worship traditions and sacred music repertoire (preference given to United Methodist knowledge and experience)
- General computer literacy (Planning Center and music software experience preferred; We currently use Music Stand, Planning Center, Sibelius)
- Willingness to grow and evolve with the worship needs of the congregation
